Curt Pence provided copies of his new budget numbers and briefly went through each line item in
general for the group. There is a$500,000 contingency spread throughout the budget.
The following clarifications were made:
• Testing is for concrete, steel compaction, etc.
• Building permits/Development fees will be owner responsibility. They won't be very much
per letter from city.
• undergound storage tanks & de-watering issues not included in these numbers. No demolition
either. These are separate contracts.
• Streetscape is separate. The city will pay for this portion. There is a copy of Streetscape bid
in materials given to Melvin Mark. City needs to be presented with final budget for council
approval.
• Site utility cost $75,000 for relocation of sewer system
• 377 stall parking design
• concrete structure
• masonry reflects using 4" veneer masonry - mazble was scrapped
• structural steel - stairs, clocktower, bus shelters, pedestrian shelters, ornamental railings
• waterproofing - added back in parking structure, part of end result of de-waitering issue.
Unknown what we will run into
• skylights includes bus mall covers and skylights as per 5/30 drawings with wells coming
through to 3rd floor; glass protection not included
• hall metal/drywall/studs - for common areas only on shell bid. Will there be drywall on
inside of ezterior walls? No What is common? Drywall on outside wall is common;
plugs come down column lines. If there are occupancy issues, then drywall needs to be done.
• HVAC - gas fued
• coiling overhead door - This item is up in the air. We have 7 openings to close. 9:35 p.m.
last bus out then gates need to be closed. Melvin Mark was asked for input on ideas for gates
for bus azea. Dan to ask Rick.
• glass and glazing revamped to reflect new design. Discussion were held about curtain wall.
Melvin Mark has done with and without, and will take a closer look at the plan.
• tile - ceramic tile in bathrooms; tile on wa11s at bus mall or something else that has easy clean
surface. RG said Transit needs to be able to powerwash inside of bus mall.
• carpet in common areas
• painting includes $33,000 for graffiti protection first level on block
• sealers on floor finishes. Discussions were held regarding treatment for entry areas and possible
hazards from wet weather and keeping clean from muddy traffic. Look at something with
te~.ure; any smooth finish causes problems. Leonard will pay attention to these areas.
• elevators - 3 traction elevators (18 stops) all the way down, but does not include the 2 floor
service elevator County wants.
Discussions on hard costs were interrupted to address Kathleen Thorpe's (Centurywest
Environmental Engineering) issues. Environmental work on the project continues and we are
currently working with the demolition contractor. As far as de-watering, we are working on
concepts but nothing is accomplished. We need pump tests to get a grip on how much volume we
will be dealing with. We can do this now. We are preparing for County to go ahead with drill tests
Page 2 of 6
