of this line with sub-transformers for power to outlets. If your computers require a clean power
source, it is a good idea to add a clean riser to service computers. It is a big cqst and this is the
~ time to discuss this need. With the direction that personal computers have t~ken using surge
protectors, we are not sure that we will need to provide a clean power source. IIt was suggested
that PGE put in writing how the system they are talking about will work: i.e. 2 main 480
transformers and the 3`d one is a back up system. The other aspect we ne~d to consider is
separate meter readings for the retail space that will be offered. '
Materials Testing
Leonard had been contacted by several firms. He was informed the county ~',is working with
Carlson on concrete testing (at Public Works). Randy was not familiar with this ~ompany. If it is
an advantage to work with this firm okay. Carlson has been used extensivel~ by MMDC and
Pence/Kelly also. It was recommended that we get three or four proposals to revliew. We need to
make sure we all have testing listed and a good number in the budget. '
We can use the extra month to determine all these items. Leonard and Dave n~ed to work with
MMDC to describe scope of special inspections to get bids.
Randy reported that Courthouse Square had been approached about putting a h~liport on the top
of the building, and briefed the group on the status of this option. Don Lar~on from federal
aeronautics said there were no dollars currently available for this project. It irvould take 9-12
months if federal money were involved. The county would be the applicant for ~'ederal funds and
~ the bottom line was it presented all kinds of problems that would not permit tl~e pursuit of this
possibility.
The second item was to mention to MMDC that there is office space located kittX corner from the
sw corner of High and Court in the building owned by Gene Derfler. Pence/Kell'~y won't be using
this space and it would be available if MMDC needs to secure office space. Thjey will look into
it.
The question was raised if we are producing duplicate sets of minutes. Craig wi~l produce action
item agendas from MMDC for the meeting and Peggy will continue to reco~d more detailed
minutes. Both continue to be very helpful to participants.
Additional Items
Additional discussion followed regarding sound abatement. Use of space heat$rs is a very cost
effective way to reduce sound in ti~e area where buses exit through the buildi~g. MMDC has
used this option in three different projects in Portland. Earlier discussioris with Interface
preferred space heaters. Russ Alterman will be able to tell you what needs to b~ included. If we
go with P1 structure, sound abatement would need to include the whole spaceb rather than just
under the building portion. We may work with a combination of insulation ar~d heat for sound
abatement.
R.G. has had some conversations with Northwest Natural Gas, who took for grailted that we were
working with PGE . The design has gas-fired domestic hot water units and whter loop reheat.
~, R.G. will check with Northwest Natural Gas to see if anything can be done.
