briefly. The tenants need to be included in discussions. There is a heavy loading area on each
floor. Data storage files for computer disk storage creates bigger problems.
~ Si na e
g g
Nothing has been done yet. MMDC will get design standards out to you.
Building Systems
Byron had meeting with Ron and Leonard yesterday. Plans are coming alqng well and no
problems with direction. Identified a couple of questions: 1. Can we sp~cify equipment
brand name or can we leave open, per your rules & regulations? R.G. state~ you can specify
name but you have to specify an equivalent. County is structured exempt ~'rom competitive
bidding. 2. Will there be conflict with FTA regulations? Not if you spe~ify "brand name
or equivalent" in the specs. '
Item #2 regarding utility capacities with PGE. Other issue utilities that need to be explored:
telephone, gas, etc. storm drain is another potential problem. As far as gas, power and water,
there are no problems with capacity to handle and the sanitary is okay too. Electrical preliminary
checking has been done with PGE on how service brought in and what typ~e power will be
available for site. We need to get letter from PGE in writing to put into budget, ,Iwe don't want to
have any hidden costs surface later on. Interface has been asked to pursue this.
R.G. will check with Salem Electric to see if there is interest ar an option to iuse them due to
recent legislation passed. County also sells electricity from co-generation plant i~ brooks to PGE.
~ If they are an option, let Leonard know right away and they will take it from tl~at point. Bob at
Salem Electric was chair of the site selection committee for this project an~l has been very
supportive.
Architectural Issues
The conference room occupancy issue has been resolved. Leonard will keep tl}is in mind in his
pre-ap process and dealing with occupancy per square foot of space in th~e stairwells and
conference room/roof garden area. Since it is a life safety agenda, Ron or Ric~lc will attend the
meeting with the city on Thursday, 7/10, at 10 AM with Leonard on pre-applicati'pn permits.
Issues to be addressed
Questions have surfaced regardina restroom size and are they adequate? ', There seems to
be long distances between areas. All restrooms had been designed to co~e standards, but
because of modifications to office layouts, they need to be readjusted. The lo~g space between
restrooms is not a plus to marketing leased space. If we are still looking at 2"dl floor showers in
one area, R.G. needs to meet with David Hartwig, Risk Management at coun~' to discuss this
option. All restrooms need to be ADA compliant. Dave, Leonard and Bryon v~ill work on more
cental location with risers in building to develop utility core that will wor~C for integrating
restrooms in the office space layouts. These changes will need to get on ~D drawings for
August 15`'' deadline. '
Discussions ensued regarding riser locations and employees being networked. Byron gave a
~ description of bringing power into the building. Working with 3 transform~rs, the main one
comes in and takes 480 up through the building with mechanical and lighting.
