Ground floor/lobby: Are there plans for a lobby security station? No, however the <br />county has designed the lobby and modified adjacent access points to equip the area with <br />a security station in the future if necessary. The county is also considering an ID-photo <br />cazd system for all county employees in all county buildings. <br />4/19/99 Update: A policy decision needs to be made with regard to whether an ID-photo <br />card system will be implemented. <br />Lighting systems: Lighting systems and shadows are being reviewed to reduce blind or <br />under lighted azeas. Motion sensors will not be used extensively, but we will review <br />selected areas which may benefit from these sensors for security reasons. <br />4/19/99 Update: Lighting has been reviewed and changes made to improve safety. <br />Motion sensors (which turn lights off/on) are planned to be used in selected azeas. <br />Ventilation systems: Special ventilation systems aze planned for the parking structure <br />and the maiUcopy center. <br />4/19/9 date: Building codes specify venitlation requirements in parking structures <br />which will be installed. The district attorney will have special ventilation for the <br />evidence storage azea. The copy center will not be housed in this building, so no special <br />ventilation is required. Fresh air intake is to be installed on the roof. <br />MaiUCopy room: The restroom adjacent to the hearing room is available for use by <br />maiUcopy room staff. An eyewash and sink will be provided in the work azea. A card <br />access door will be added in the corridor to control access to the mail room. Staff will <br />need to make provisions for non-building employees and vendors to access the area for <br />delivery and pickup. Minors can be added, at owner expense, to improve vision <br />clearance any where in the building. <br />4/19/99 Update: A copy center will not be housed in this building. <br />Restrooms: The restrooms on each floor are open to the public. The ground floor <br />restrooms will receive higher use by nature of their accessibility. At this time, no special <br />security procedures have beeri suggested to control or monitor restroom a~tivities. <br />4/19/99 Update: A policy decision needs to be made with regazd to restroom access. <br />Options may include locking all restrooms with keys available from staff on request, <br />designating certain restrooms public with others for staff only, or allowing free access to <br />a11 restrooms. <br />Dumpsters: The dumpsters will be in an enclosed area. The location is being revised, <br />but the area will be properly ventilated. <br />4/19/99 U.~date: Dumpsters will be located in a secured area. <br />Buaers/Alarms: Special buzzers and alarms will be added at owner expense after the <br />building is occupied. Half doors or gates can also be added to control public access to <br />work areas. The alarms will not ring to a police or security desk. They are intended to <br />alert other department employees of a problem. A paging system can also be installed <br />using the existing phone system. <br />
