NO1SE <br />No significant noise impacts are expected with the praposed project. The <br />only noise-sensitive land uses in tf~e project area are seven apartrnents <br />focated above retaii uses on High Street on the west side across from the <br />project site. The residences are located in a central business district above a <br />througF~ arteria) street. They are currentfy 1/2 block from the existing tr~nsit <br />center operation, T(~e proposed project is not expected to result in a <br />signi~icant increase in noise levels above thase already being experienced at <br />these locations. Transii center activities will be oriented toward 'the inside of <br />the new building and project design wilt include appropriate measures to <br />mitigate vehicular noise impacts both within and without the structure a~ <br />warranted. <br />8. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL5 <br />No significant impacts retated to hazardous materials are expected as a result <br />ofi the proposed project. Severa! geotechnica! analyses have already beEn <br />performed on the site. Ther~ are no known underground fue[ storage tanks <br />remaining on the County-owned portion of t~e block. Prior to County <br />ownership, the currently vacant southeast corner of the bloc ~ pg,~ <br />bv ~ti~vron Senrice Sta~^-^- ,Nh«~ Wac re~^^~~Pr1 ~n 1985_ Removal and` ~ <br />/~V'~ mitigafion of the USTs was acccmplished to the sa~s~~act~on ofi the Oregon <br />~v ~ Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), with soil cfeanup confirmation <br />~r~ samples indicating readings below the most stringent soil matrix cfean <br />,~ lev 0 m#or diese[ and h~ating oil (see a ater Q'. Should <br />~ any undiscovered tan s rematn ~n e rest o the site, tE~ey will be removed <br />and contamination mitigated in an similarly approved manner. <br />Asbestos pipe and ceiling 'tnsulatian, as well as asbestos-contairting floor 1ile <br />will be encountered during the demotition of the Senatar/Derby and Ticor <br />Buildings. DEQ will be notified, but no permits are required. Standard DEQ <br />procedures for apprapriate removal and disposat wifl be fo[[owed and <br />monitored. A Fnal Air Clearance test wifl be perFormed post-removal. <br />9. HiSTORIC RESOURCES <br />No signifcant impacts an historic resources are anticipated as a result of the <br />proposed project. There are no historic buildings or other resources on the <br />site which are currently Iisted, or eligible to be iisted, an the National <br />Register af Historic P(aces. The State Histvnc Preservation Office and the <br />city of Safem Landmarks Commission have a[so confirmed that nane of the <br />structures on the site represent histarically significant landmarks or <br />resources. <br />
