SALEM COURTHOUSE SQUARE SECTION 01010 <br />DEMOLITION SCOPE OF WORK <br />lc~ PAGE 3 OF 8 <br />1.6 UTILITY SERVICES <br />A. Demolish and remove utility service lines as required for the work. Unless otherwise approved by <br />the Owner or Owner's Representative, disconnected utility services shall be removed, <br />abandonment is not acceptable. <br />1. Contractor shall maintain operating condition existing fire protection and alarm equipment. <br />Contractor shall make arrangement for pre-inspection of site with Fire Department. <br />B. Utilities Services: Maintain existing utility services for occupied buildings at all times. Provide <br />tempQrary facilities, labor, materials, equipment, connections, and utilities to assure uninterrupted <br />services. Where necessary to cut existing water, steam, gases, sewer, conduit, conductors, <br />cables, and supports of building utility services including fire protection systems and telephone, <br />data and commumcations systems they shall be cut and capped at suitable places, or as directed by <br />Owner or Owner's Representative. <br />1. No utility service such as water, gas, steam, sewers or electricity, or fire protection systems <br />and communications systems may be interrupted without prior approval of Owner or Owner's <br />Representative. <br />2. Contractor shall submit a request to interrupt any such services to Owner or Owner's <br />Representative, in writing, 48 hours in advance of proposed interruption. Request shall state <br />reason, date, exact time of, and approximate duration of such interruption. <br />3. Contractor will be advised (in writing) of approval of request, or of modified date and time <br />such interruption will cause least inconvenience to operation of occupied buildings. <br />Interruption time approved by Owner or Owner's Representative may occur at other than <br />Contractor's normal working hours. <br />4. Major interruptions of any system must be requested, in writing, at least (2) calendar days prior <br />to the desired time and shall be performed as directed by the Owner or Owner's Representative. <br />5. In case of a contract construction emergency, service will be interrupted on approval of Owner <br />or Owner's Representative. Such approval will be confirmed in wnhng as soon as practical. <br />C. To minimize interference of demolition activities with flow of occupied building traffic, comply <br />with the following: <br />1. Keep roads, walks and entrances to parking and to occupied areas of building clear of <br />construction materials, debris and standing demolition equipment and velucles. <br />2. Method and scheduling of required cutting, altering and removal of existing roads, walks and <br />entrances must be approved by the Owner or Owner's Representative. <br />3. Do not disturb parking areas beyond the azea indicated. Maintain public access to all existing <br />parking areas pertaining the occupied buildings. <br />4. Contractor Parking Area will be determined by Owner or Owner's Representative. Occupied <br />building designated parking is not available for Contractor use. Demolition related vehicles <br />using occupied building parking are subject to impound and towing and associated fees. <br />
