SAFETY GLAZING / LARGE PANE. The following shall be con- si(~red a specific hazardous loc~tion for the purposes of glazing. The bar shall be capable of withstanding a horizontal load of 50 pounds per linear foot without contacting the glass and be a minimum of 1 1/2 inches in height. 19. LANDING / EXTERIOR DOOR, A minimum 2 foot x 3 foot landing shall be required on each side of an egress door. The floor or landing shall not be more than 1 and 1/2 inches lower than the top of the threshold. When alterations, repairs or additions requiring a permit occur, or when sleeping rooms are added or created, the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as required for new dwellings; the smoke detectors shall be interconnected and hard wired, EXCEPTION: Detectors shall not be reduired to be inter- connected and hard wired where the alterations, repairs, or additions do not result in the exposure of electrical wiring by the removal of interior wall and ceiling finishes, [Sec. 216.1.1] SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room, outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the dwelling including basements, All detectors located outside sleeping rooms shall be interconnected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate these alarms in the individual unit and shall provide an alarm which will be audible in all sleeping areas, Smoke detectors shall be 110 volt with batter back-up. [Sec. 316,1] SMOKE DETECTOR / POWER, In new construction, the required smoke detectors shall receive their primary power from the building wiring when such wiring is served from a commercial source, and when primary power is interrupted, shall receive power from a battery.
