7. TRUSS DESIGN. Roof trusses are required to be designed by an Oregon registered Engi- <br />neer or Architect. For trusses manufactured by an approved fabrication plant, have the design <br />and layout drawings available at the construction site for the framing inspection. All job site <br />cutting or modification of the roof trusses shall be clearly shown in the engineer's design <br />calculations and drawings. <br /> <br />TRUSS DESIGN (SITE BUILT). ATTIC VENTS, Provide screened attic vents with a net free area of 1/150 of the attic area. <br />(or 1/300 if between 50 and 80% of required area is ventilators in the upper portion of the attic <br />and located at least 3 feet above eave or cornice vents. As an alternative, install a 4 mil vapor <br />barrier on the warm side of the ceiling. [Sec. 806.2]. <br /> <br />9, BATHROOM LIGHT/VENT. Bathrooms, water closet compartments and other similar rooms <br />shall be provided with a window of not less 'than 3 square feet, one-half of which must be <br />openabie, or artificial light and an approved mechanical ventilation system capable of producing <br />a change of air every 12 minutes. [Sec. 303.3] <br /> <br />SAFETY GLAZING/TUBS. The following shall be considered specific hazardous locations for <br />the purposes of glazing. <br /> 1. Glazing in doors and enclosures for hot tubs, whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, <br />bathtubs, showers Glazing in any part of a building waft enclosing these compartments where the <br />bottom edge of the glazing is less than 60 indnes above the drain outlet) <br /> <br />10, OPENINGS BETVVEEN the garage ami residence shall be equipped with either solid wood <br />doors not less than 1 3/8 inches in thickness or 20-minute fire rated doors. [Sec. 309,1] <br /> <br />11. THE GARAGE shaft be separated from the dwelling end its attic area by means of 1/2-inch <br />gypsum board applied to the garage side of the wall. Where the separation is a floor*ceiling <br />assembly, the structure supporting the separation shall be protected by 1/2-inch gypsum board <br />or equivalent, The door between the garage and residence shall be equipped with solid wood <br />doors not less than 1 3/8 inches in thickness or 20-minute fire rated, or equivalent. [Sec. 309.1, <br />309.2] <br /> <br />12. EVERY SLEEPING ROOM shall have at least one operable window approved for <br />emergency egress or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more than 44 inches above the <br />floor. The minimum net clear opening is 5,7 square feet, The minimum net clear opening height <br />shall be 22 inches. The minimum net clear opening width shall be 20 inches, Exception: Grade <br />floor windows may have a minimum net clear opening of 5 square feet. [Sec. 310.2, 310.2.1] <br /> <br />13, LANDING/EXTERIOR DOOR, A minimum 3 foot x 3 foot landing shall be required on each <br />side of an egress door. The floor or landin9 shall not be more than one and one-half inches <br />lower than the top of, the threshold. Exceptions: The landing at the exterior doorway shall not be <br />more than 8 1/4 inches below the top of the threshold. [Sec. 312,1] <br /> <br />14. SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room, outside of each separate <br />sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the <br />dwelling including basements.
