660 8T~ ST <br />May 17, 1994 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />Heating and cooling appliances located in a garage shall be protected <br />from impact by automobiles. Appliances that generate a glow, spark of <br />flame capable of igniting gasoline vapors located in a garage shall be <br />installed with burners, burner ignition devices or heating elements and <br />switches at least 18 inches above the floor level. (M-1006.3) <br /> <br />Bathrooms shall be provided with artificial light and an approved <br />mechanical ventilation system capable of producing a change of air every <br />12 minutes Or a window of not less than 3 sql ft., one-half of which <br />must be openable. (R-203.3) <br /> <br />Individual glazed areas in hazardous locations shall pass the test <br />(CPSC 16-CFR) requirements of section R-208.3 (safety glazing). <br />Nazardous locations are considered as follows~ <br /> <br /> a. In doors and within 24 inches of a door. <br /> b. Fixed and sliding panels of sliding-type doors (patio type). <br /> c. Glazing in storm doors. <br /> d. ~lazing in shower and bathtub doors and enclosures. <br /> e. Fixed panels with an area in excess of 9 square feet and the <br /> lowest edge less than 18 inches above the finished floor. (In <br /> lieu of safety glazing, this specific glazed panel may be <br /> protected With a horizontal member not less than 1-1/2 inches in <br /> width when located between 24 and 36 inches above the walking <br /> surfaces.} (R-208.4) <br /> <br />14. Exterior and foundation wall panels of frame construction shall be <br /> braced with approved structural sheathing Or 1-inch by 4-inch let in <br /> braces. Structural sheathing and 1-inch by 4-inch let-in braces shall be <br /> installed as per Table No. R-402.10. (R-402.10) <br /> <br />CONDITION 1 TYPE OF BRAC~ AMOUNT OF BRACING 2 3 <br />One Story. 1-by 4-inch let-in Located at each end and <br />Top of two or three bracing or structural at least every 25 feet <br />story, sheathing, of wall <br />First story of two Structural sheathing. 25 percent of wall <br />story, length to be sheathed. <br />Second story of three <br />First story of three Structural sheathing. 40 percent of wall <br />story.. ......... length to be sheathed. <br /> <br />Foundations wall panels braced same as story above. <br />Where structural sheathing is used, each braced panel must be at least 48 <br />inches in width. <br />Structural sheathing and let-in bracing shall be located at each end or as <br />near thereto as possible. <br /> <br />"APPROVED" only when this sheet is attached to plans <br /> <br /> <br />
