49930 N Santiam Hwy SE SITE VISIT REPORT
ldanha, OR 97350-9503 State Farm Claim No. 37-11K4-75P
of the joists from the ledger at the West exterior wall to the beam adjacent to the
stairs was measured to be 17.69 ft. Assuming approximately 7 pounds per square
foot (psf) of dead load, the maximum allowable live load would be 31.5 psf. The
minimum residential design live load for "sleeping areas" and "habitable attics" is 30
psf, which means that the mezzanine floor joists would meet this requirement.
However, for "other areas" the minimum design live load is 40 psf, which the joists
do not meet.
l ` y
CHECKS (CRACKS) IN FLOOR JOIST, AND PLAYROOM ABOVE [FIGURES 28, 29]
Right Photo Credit: Brandi Taylor
Based on photos of the playroom, the floor appears lightly loaded with objects
and would still be relatively lightly loaded when occupied as a playroom for children.
Note that for a space that is 17 ft. x 17 ft. (as an example), the allowable total live
load using 30 psf would be 8,670 lbs., evenly distributed. If that space were to be
filled with people weighing an average of 150 lbs. each, then that would be about 58
people. Nevertheless, the Owner should take measures to ensure that the mezzanine
floor loading does not ever exceed 30 psf.
I
I
Report Date: March 28, 2021 Page 13 of 44
Site Visit Date: March 6, 2021 Taylor & Syfan Consulting Engineers, Inc.
