Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />8.Receives complaints from the community, self-dispatches mobile units, and answers general <br />inquiries of the public. <br />9.Performs court security when necessary. <br />10.Participates in search and rescue operations. <br />11.Performs other related duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Must be at least 21 years of age. <br />2.Possess, or obtain within one (1) year of hire, citizenship of the United States. <br />3.High school diploma or equivalent. <br />4.Eighteen (18) months experience as a police officer or deputy, OR any equivalent acceptable <br />combination of education and police officer experience. <br />CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br />1.Possess a Basic Police certification from the Department of Public Safety, Standards and Training, <br />and/or any equivalent out-of-state law enforcement accreditation recognized by DPSST; OR <br />2.Out-of-state applicants: <br /> Must attend and pass DPSST Career Officer Development Course, within 12 months of hire date. <br />> <br />Must pass the Standard POST test, prior to entering the DPSST Career Officer Development <br />> <br />Course. <br />Successful out-of-state applicants are at the Deputy Sheriff Trainee level and wage range until <br />> <br />Oregon certification is achieved. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possess a valid Class C Oregon driver's license, or if in possession of an out-of-state license, must <br />> <br />obtain an Oregon license within 30 days of hire. Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving <br />record. <br />Possess knowledge of and experience using a computer keyboard and PC equipment. <br />> <br />Must pass a keyboarding skills test and the ability to type by touch. <br />> <br /> Possess the ability to work rotating shifts, split shifts or other alternative work schedules. <br />> <br />As a condition of employment, must first complete the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT) <br />> <br />within the time frame established by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Must qualify for ORPAT <br />annually as a condition of the essential functions of the job classification. <br />Final candidates will be subject to a personal background investigation including, but not limited to, <br />> <br />employment, criminal and driving histories. <br />Final candidates selected for this position will be required to participate in a panel interview, a <br />> <br />psychological test, medical examination, and drug/alcohol screening, by a county appointed <br />medical doctor. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge of: pertinent federal, state and local laws and ordinances; <br />Ability to: utilize police equipment and techniques; meet DPSST certification requirements; conduct <br />investigations, collect, evaluate and analyze facts; draw orders; deal with the public in a firm but <br />courteous manner. <br />ADOPTED: <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...9/23/2020 <br /> <br />
