<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Deputy Sheriff Certified <br />Enforcement <br />Class Code: <br />154 <br />Bargaining Unit: 05 - Marion County Law <br />Enforcement Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$27.25 - $36.46 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 04 Protective ServicesSheriff <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Serves and protects the public by enforcing local and state laws. Investigates complaints and other <br />problems relating to criminal law enforcement in the County. Transports arrested, sentenced, or detained <br />individuals. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under supervision of an enforcement officer of higher grade who assigns and reviews work for <br />conformance to laws, policies, rules, and regulations. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a normal responsibility of positions in this class. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Patrols roads, highways, forestland, federal enclaves, and business areas in the enforcement of <br />traffic and criminal laws; patrols rivers and lakes in patrol boat enforcing water safety laws and <br />regulations. <br />2.Conducts criminal and traffic investigations and interviews; gathers evidence and takes statements <br />of involved parties. <br />3.Prepares reports and maintains records necessary for efficient investigations, crime prevention, <br />prosecution, and office procedures. Collects and secures evidence. <br />4.Operates radar equipment in the enforcement of speed regulations. <br />5.Makes arrests, books prisoners, transports prisoners and patients under custody to institutions, <br />courts, and on extradition. Transports arrested, sentenced or detained individuals requiring <br />movement to and from the County jail, juvenile facility, state institutions, municipal jails, and other <br />facilities. <br />6.Serves subpoenas, warrants of arrest, and civil papers. <br />7.Promotes public relations in a highly visible role by participating in community events/public <br />forums, informing the public on public safety concerns, and answering inquiries regarding laws and <br />ordinances. <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...9/23/2020 <br /> <br />
