Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />6.Receives and processes building code and septic investigations; updates database; generates <br />letters; tracks all action and inaction taken on investigations; and coordinates with legal counsel, <br />code enforcement, property owners, and other public agencies. <br />7.Relays instructions, technical information, and inspection requests to field inspectors via the <br />computer or telephone. Schedules, reschedules, cancel, and prints daily inspections through the <br />computer systems for inspectors and customers. <br />8.Participates in developing and maintaining procedures, forms, routines, and record keeping <br />processes to ensure efficient and effective permit processes. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of technical experience in processing building permits, working as a contractor, <br />inspector, plans examiner or related technical experience, which included one (1) year of general <br />office and customer service experience; OR <br />3.Satisfactorily complete an in-house Building Inspection Code training course <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENT <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Considerable knowledge of: building and specialty codes; methods and practices of construction; <br />telephone etiquette; and principles of customer service. <br />Some knowledge of: standard office practices and procedures; a variety of software programs; English <br />composition including grammar, punctuation, and spelling. <br />Skill and ability to: manage multiple priorities with responsibility for multiple phone lines; communicate <br />effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain professional working relationships with co- <br />workers, other agencies, contractors, owners, and the general public; read and interpret a variety of <br />plans, specifications, and maps relevant to the permit process; estimate construction values; understand <br />building terminology and apply as necessary; to accurately word process; maintain records and prepare <br />report; effectively operate computer equipment and software programs utilized by the county; and <br />accurately data enter. <br />ADOPTED: <br />09/81 <br />REVISED: <br />03/89; 02/96; 02/98; 02/02; 05/07; 04/08; 02/18 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
