<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Permit Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />009 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$21.28 - $28.51 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 03 TechniciansPublic Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties requiring considerable knowledge of regulations <br />relating to building permits; performs other related duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Building and Planning Division Manager who assigns and reviews <br />work for conformance to departmental standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Meets and greet the general public and directs individual to appropriate staff; gives information to <br />the public and other agencies which requires a thorough knowledge of the codes and interpretation <br />of department regulations and building permit procedures. <br />2.Assists builders, contractors, developers, contract cities, and the public in submitting applications <br />for inspection permits including building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, septic, demolition, <br />manufactured dwelling, and agricultural exemption; asks appropriate questions to establish <br />ownership, licensing, zoning, type of construction, individual construction problems, reasonable <br />value of project on which to assess fee; reviews construction plans to determine required permits <br />as regulated by building and specialty codes; locates property on maps as required; reviews <br />documents for completeness and compliance; monitors permit process until issuance. <br />3.Calculates permit fees by applying established formula for each specialty area and permit; <br />receives and receipts payments; issues permit(s); balances cash. Assembles and issues permits <br />or sends documentation to the requesting city (Stayton, Mt. Angel or Keizer) for processing. <br />4.Uses a computer to retrieve and research information and provide data entry as required to <br />archive files, enter new contractors, update insurance information, find current licensing and <br />address information; update records or type technical records and documents; composes and <br />types correspondence related to the permit process; and issues certificates of occupancies for new <br />dwellings and commercial buildings. <br />5.Assists in review of monthly reports; set up and maintains files and indexes. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
