Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />1.Conducts regular security checks of facility, including occupied sanitation facilities (restrooms, <br />showers) and living areas; performs regular security searches of residents (on-person) and areas <br />occupied by residents; inspects facility for needed preventative maintenance and safety hazards. <br />2.Maintains logbook and accounts book; records events during assigned shifts; checks residents in <br />and out of the facility; supervises and controls visitors to the facility and on the grounds. <br />3.Prepares written reports and maintains records necessary to the effective operation of the <br />program. <br />4.Dispenses/controls medications and antabuse; takes drug surveys. <br />5.Fills in for other personnel as necessary when they are absent. <br />6.Conducts personal interviews with clients to ascertain needs; maintains chronological case <br />histories; confers with spouses, families, employers and others relative to client needs; conducts <br />interviews and investigations of clients in pre-trial status, on probation or parole. <br />7.Presents facts and evaluation of cases to court; carries out disposition ordered by courts. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.High school diploma or equivalent; <br />2.Must be at least 21 years of age; <br />3.Possess, or obtain within one (1) year of hire, Citizenship of the United States; AND <br />4.Eighteen (18) months experience as a Corrections Officer or Deputy; OR <br />5.Any equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable <br />> <br />driving history. <br />Possess the ability to work rotating shifts, split shifts or other alternative work schedules. <br />> <br />Final candidates will be subject to a personal background investigation including, but not limited to, <br />> <br />employment, criminal and driving histories. <br />Ability to pass required psychological, medical/drug, and physical abilities evaluations. <br />> <br />CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br /> 1. Possess a Basic Corrections certification from the Department of Public Safety, Standards <br /> and Training, and/or any equivalent out-of-state law enforcement accreditation recognized <br /> by DPSST; OR <br /> 2. Out-of-state applicants: <br /> a. Must pass the Standard POST test prior to entering the DPSST Career Officer <br /> Development Course. <br /> b. Must possess the ability to attend and pass DPSST Career Officer Development Course <br /> within 12 months of hire date. <br /> c. Successful out-of-state applicants are hired at the Deputy Sheriff Trainee level until <br /> Oregon certification is achieved. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge and ability in: use of equipment to identify of adults in custody; effectively controlling adults in <br />custody in all situations; supervising and disciplining adults in custody; using a computer keyboard and <br />PC equipment with ability to type by touch; keeping accurate records; following orders, both written and <br />oral; good physical condition and strength to handle unruly adults in custody. <br />ADOPTED: <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
