Incumbents perform clerical duties of a
general, routine nature. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence
of direction and judgment as are positions classified higher in the series. Directions, rules, and
procedures are provided in written or oral form, and work assignments are periodically checked for
compliance with guidelines and instructions. As the employee's skill level and knowledge of the office
setting or program increase, the employee may receive further training to do more difficult work
assignments or to operate complex equipment in a more independent fashion.
The Office Specialist 1 is distinguished from Office Specialist 2 by the absence of responsibility to
independently perform a broad range of moderately difficult clerical assignments that require prior training
and experience.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED
TO THE FOLLOWING:
1.Receives and transfers business calls on a multiple-line system; provides routine information
relating to county, department, and/or program services; transfers, takes messages or refers calls
to proper source.
2.Meets and greets the general public or clients and directs individuals to appropriate staff and
schedules appointments for clients with appropriate staff members.
https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020
