• Promptly clean any tools or utensils that come in direct contact with sewage, using detergent and
hot water.
For additional information pertaining to health and safety, contact the local health department.
5.0 SPILL CONTINGENCY PLAN
Any raw sewage or effluent that is present on the ground surface for any reason other than minor amounts
associated with routine maintenance or repairs are considered reportable. This includes any raw sewage
that enters waters of the state or otherwise threatens public health or the environment. Spills require
immediate attention.
Reportable releases require a call to the Oregon Emergency Response System at(800)452-0311 with
specific information pertaining to the spill(e.g.,location,estimated volume, receiving water,etc.).The
source of the spill shall be identified and documented. If a spill has a continuous or reoccurring source,
such as overflow from a tank or surfacing near a drainfield, measures must be initiated to eliminate,
temporarily redirect,or minimize additional spillage. The following actions should be taken in the event of
a spill:
• Promptly cover raw sewage or effluent on the ground surface with hydrated lime(CaOH or
Ca•MgOH),also known as quick lime.
• Cordon off the area with"CAUTION"tape and post with signs, which read"RAW SEWAGE-
KEEP OUT."
• Maintain restricted access for a minimum of 30 days after the condition is corrected to allow
-- biological processes to reduce the risk to human health.
6.0 CONTINUOUS MONITORING (ALARMS)
The Alarm Activation Worksheet(Form 1)has been developed to assist with the identification and
recording of alarm events.Keep a copy of this form on a clipboard in a convenient location accessible to
maintenance staf. Each time an alarm is activated, note the date, time, and source of the alarm, then
push the light to silence the audible part of the alarm. The labeled lights will indicate the alarm
condition(s).Record the appropriate information on Form 1 and refer to Table 2 for potential causes and
corrective actions.
7.0 MONTHLY MONITORING
The Monthly Flow Data Collection Worksheet(Form 2)is a general pictorial representation of the
control panel and is used to record flow related data on a monthly basis. Open the front cover of the
control panel, write down the date and time, and record the numbers displayed on the meters in the
corresponding boxes.
Reading the meters should be a regularly scheduled event. For ease of calculation and comparison of
data, the meters should be read on the same day and at approximately the same time(e.g., first Monday
of the month at 7:00 am).
Event Counters and Elapsed Time Meters. There is an Event Counter(EC)and an Elapsed Time Meter
(ETM)in the control panel for each pump that records how many times and for how long each pump has
run(cumulative).EC values are in whole numbers, and ETM values are in hours and hundredths of
CES-Albany,OR St.Innocent Winery and Tasting Room 0&M Manual
Doc:2018240028 St.Innocent Winery OM BTR May 2018 I Page 3
