Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />9.Coordinates the disposal of unclaimed property and special disposal of narcotics, explosives, <br />biological specimens, biohazard material and firearms; participates in approved destruction, <br />appropriation for department use and other disposition of items in the custody of the evidence <br />room. <br />10.Provides training to those submitting evidence in order to preserve evidence for criminal <br />prosecution. <br />11.Recommends necessary and appropriate changes to department policies and procedures as they <br />relate to evidence room function. <br />12.Maintains current knowledge of local, state and federal laws involving property/evidence handling, <br />storage and disposal. <br />13.Operates a crime scene van for the purpose of responding to crime scenes and search warrants. <br />14.Performs other related work as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of experience with a law enforcement agency, (Preferably including experience in <br />police evidence inventory procedures.); OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license. <br />> <br />Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record. <br />> <br />Must be able to operate a one-ton van (Crime Scene Investigation Unit). <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Knowledge of: the laws, policies and procedures pertaining to the safe handling, preservation, custody <br />and maintenance of evidence; knowledge of purchase and requisition procedures . <br />Ability and skill to: maintain accurate records; knowledge of manual and computerized inventory record <br />keeping procedures; computer skills in word processing and data base programs; maintain <br />confidentiality; operate standard office machines; photograph property and evidence; follow written and <br />oral instructions; respond to numerous, simultaneous inquiries and requests; establish and maintain <br />effective working relation-ships with coworkers, other law enforcement agencies, and the public. <br />ADOPTED: <br />02/94 <br />REVISED: <br />08/07 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />08/07; 09/13; 11/15; 03/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br />
