<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Administrative <br />Specialist Detective <br />Class Code: <br />Section <br />014 <br />Bargaining Unit: 05 - Marion County Law <br />Enforcement Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$21.75 - $28.60 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 06 Administrative SupportSheriff <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Acts as Administrative Specialist to the Detective Section of the Sheriff's Office; composes letters, reports <br />and memoranda requiring absolute accuracy and considerable knowledge of Sheriff's Office and section <br />policies and functions; makes moderate level decisions on section procedures and practices; does <br />related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Detective Section Sergeant, who assigns work, sets goals, <br />and reviews work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Office policies, goals, and objectives. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Prepares, edits, and proofreads memos, criminal reports, tape-recorded statements, texts, and <br />correspondence for the Detective Section Sergeant and Section Investigators from rough draft, <br />tape recording, handwritten copy, verbal communication or from other material, with absolute <br />accuracy, often for submission as evidence in a court of law. <br />2.Takes affidavits for search warrants from oral dictation in a highly charged, crisis atmosphere; <br />prepares search warrant returns, motions/orders to seal, and grand jury subpoenas duces tecum <br />for submission to a court of law. <br />3.Composes correspondence and prepares legal forms for signature of supervisor, applying <br />knowledge of established office and section procedures and functions. <br />4.Receives reports and anonymous tips on crimes over the telephone, as well as information from <br />other agencies, and prepares documentation on the information. <br />5.Prepares monthly and annual statistical reports on such occurrences as domestic violence, child <br />abuse, and amount of staff time devoted to specific crime categories in order to determine cost to <br />the county.
