Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />requested for indictment. Prepares and conducts motions, bench trials, jury trials and hearings in <br />all matters before the Court. <br />3.Reviews reports submitted by Probation officers; initiates revocation proceedings where <br />appropriate; represents the State at all related hearings. <br />4.Assists police agencies in the application for arrest and search warrants. <br />5.Supervises homicides or other complex cases. <br />6.Assists the District Attorney in formulating and implementing office policies. <br />7.Assigns caseload within a Trial Team, Juvenile Division or the Family Support Division and <br />administers said team/division; trains and supervises Deputies and Investigators; reviews and <br />evaluates performance. Supervises, monitors major cases and other workload assigned to Deputy <br />District Attorneys. <br />8.Provides liaison between the District Attorney's Office and outside agencies when the District <br />Attorney is unavailable or so directs. <br />9.Assists the District Attorney in preparation of the annual budget. <br />10.Provides, on a scheduled basis, off-hour, and on-call services to police agencies requiring <br />assistance during nights and weekends. <br />11.Responsible for death investigations. <br />12.Reviews petitions for disclosure of public records. Writes and issues opinions. <br />13.Provides training to outside agencies and professional law enforcement organizations, including <br />the preparation of written materials. Also conducts community presentations. Trainings may <br />require travel and overnight trips. <br />14.Conducts interagency training and education on law; coordinates interagency law enforcement <br />task forces/teams. <br />15.Participates in legislative law policy and/or development. <br />16.Interviews, hires, and trains new attorneys and law clerks. <br />17.Manages the use of force determinations at the Grand Jury, as requested. <br />18.Interacts with the media at the direction of the District Attorney. <br />19.Conducts special prosecution cases in other jurisdictions as directed by the District Attorney. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from an accredited school of law; AND <br />2.Must be a member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar; AND <br />3.Five (5) years experience as a licensed attorney practicing in criminal, juvenile and child support <br />law or an acceptable combination of these areas of law. <br />4.Preference may be given to applicants with experience in an area specific to the position being <br />recruited (i.e. criminal, juvenile and child support law). <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possession of, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon driver's license. If in <br />> <br />possession of a current out of state driver's license, must obtain Oregon driver's license within 30 <br />days of hire. <br />Possess and maintain an acceptable driving record. A copy of the driving record for all qualified <br />> <br />applicants will be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY <br />Thorough knowledge of: criminal and juvenile law and the practices and procedures of criminal and <br />juvenile prosecution; thorough knowledge of support enforcement and juvenile dependency law and the <br />practices and procedures of those areas of law; thorough knowledge of courtroom and trial procedures, <br />ability to analyze facts, evidence and precedents, and to arrive at logical conclusions; superior <br />communications skills; ability to appear effectively before a trial court or administrative body; ability to <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
