<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Law Librarian <br />Class Code: <br />098 <br />Bargaining Unit: 02 - Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,227.20 - $2,982.40 Biweekly <br />$4,825.60 - $6,461.87 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 ProfessionalsLegal Counsel <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Manages the maintenance and operation of the County Law Library; performs and supervises <br />all library functions, including legal research and collection development; does related work <br />as required <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of Legal Counsel who determines goals and reviews work for <br />conformance to department standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervises and trains other employees, participates in selection of new employees, provides <br />training, evaluates performance, responds to grievances, and recommends personnel transactions. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Supervises employees working in the library; provides evaluations, training, orientation and work <br />assignments. <br />2.Represents the library before groups and associations, e.g. Bar Association. Promotes Library <br />Services through customer service, newsletter, information systems, etc. <br />3.Prepares and monitors the Law Library budget and develops and manages contracts. <br />4.Develops, implements, and manages law library policies and procedures; updates and revises as <br />necessary. <br />5.Monitors legislative changes and court decisions to assure the maintenance of current <br />information. Provides an accurate legal research/reference service. <br />6.Develops and manages materials acquisitions, collection, user services, technological services for <br />library facilities. <br />7.Provides "back-up" library services to county jail library. <br />8.Selects and implements an appropriate level of cataloging, classifying and indexing. May catalog <br />library materials. Evaluates and selects automated cataloging/acquisitions system. <br />9.Supervises the creation and maintenance of web sites, both Internet and Intranet.
