<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Computer Forensics <br />Trainee <br />Class Code: <br />666 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$25.82 - $34.59 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 03 TechniciansInformation Technology <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Under direction, performs a variety of technical analyses and procedures in the collection, processing, <br />preservation, analysis and presentation of computer-related evidence, including data retrieval, breaking <br />passwords and finding hidden or otherwise "invisible" information; assists law enforcement personnel in <br />computer-related investigations; performs related work as required/assigned. <br />Upon satisfactorily meeting the IACIS certification requirements, incumbent may be promoted to the <br />classification of Computer Forensics Specialist. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general direction of an IT Manager or the IT Director, who assigns and reviews work for <br />conformance to technical and departmental standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Provides technical guidance/assistance in evaluating and investigating cases where computer or <br />related media is potential evidence. <br />2.Assists with examinations of computers and related media to secure and recover data as <br />evidence. <br />3.Participates in the process of protecting original evidence and recovering deleted, erased, hidden <br />and encrypted data. <br />4.Collects computer-related evidence from crime scenes, using appropriate evidence handling and <br />chain-of-custody procedures. Transports, receives and secures evidence as necessary or <br />requested. <br />5.Participates in the analysis of submitted and retrieved evidence utilizing experience and <br />knowledge of a wide variety of advanced computer technologies. <br />6.Follows appropriate methods and procedures for preservation, evidence recovery and presentation <br />of computer and related evidence. <br />7.Releases evidence to investigating law enforcement agency when examination is completed. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
