<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Chief Civil Supervisor <br />Class Code: <br />138 <br />Bargaining Unit: 02 - Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,420.80 - $3,240.80 Biweekly <br />$5,245.07 - $7,021.73 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 ProfessionalsSheriff <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Supervises the activities of clerical and civil deputy staff assigned to the Civil Section, Records Section, <br />and Concealed Handgun Licensing and Reception areas of the Sheriff's Office; participates in the <br />processing, service and recording of legal documents; does related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of an administrative lieutenant who reviews work for effectiveness <br />and conformance to departmental policies by observation, conferences, and reports. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Exercises supervisory responsibilities for a group of deputies and clerical staff performing civil process, <br />concealed handgun licensing, and records functions; provides work coordination, planning, and <br />organization; monitors work flow; completes performance evaluations for subordinate staff. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Plans, organizes, and assigns the work of civil deputies and office personnel engaged in the <br />processing and service of civil process, writs and orders from the court, and criminal records. <br />Duties include evaluating performance, provide training, responding to grievances, recommending <br />personnel transactions, compliance with all applicable federal, state and county regulations and <br />policies. <br />2.Advises the Sheriff and department staff of current law and proposed legislative changes affecting <br />civil law enforcement. <br />3.Responsible for accurate maintenance of records and ensuring compliance with archive/retention <br />rules, procedures, and concealed handgun license laws.Coordinates, administers, and supervises <br />the levying/seizure of real and personal property. Ensures county liability is minimized by <br />compliance with all statutes, processes, rules, and regulations. <br />4.Administers contracts with service providers to act as Sheriff's Keepers on seized personal <br />property; acts as the towing coordinator and authorizes approval or removal of tow companies on <br />the tow rotation. <br />5.Ensures civil and records section policies and procedures remain updated and current to reflect <br />law and rules as implemented.
