Supervises accounting staffs who apply accounting principles and conduct studies for <br />developing and maintaining one or more systems in addition to regular financial reporting functions. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of a department manager or division manager, who assigns work, <br />establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness through observation. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Exercises supervision over accounting staff: assists in the selection of new personnel, provides training, <br />develops work plans and evaluates performance, recommends personnel transactions, administers <br />disciplinary action and responds to grievances. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Supervises accounting staff responsible for cost accounting, departmental payroll, purchasing, <br />contracts, accounts payable, collections and accounts receivable functions, including billing and <br />deposits. <br />2.Participates in selecting new personnel, provides for training, plans and coordinates work, <br />evaluates performance and facilitates problem solving. <br />3.Responsible for developing and maintaining one or more cost accounting systems. <br />4.Prepares a variety of financial statements and variance reports used by management to track and <br />control operating costs. Recommends cost efficiencies in services provided. <br />5.Analyzes data, changes in methods or services and audits of costs. Classifies labor, material and <br />overhead cost to compute the unit cost of product or service. <br />6.Prepares and manages multiple, complex budgets for the department and monitors monthly <br />expenses. <br />7.Manages and projects expenditures and revenues.
