Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />5.Coordinates, schedules, and oversees the 24-hour on-call volunteer program to respond to victims <br />of sexual assault. <br />6.Coordinates, schedules, and oversees the 24-hour on-call volunteer program to respond to co- <br />victims of homicide; conducts monthly meetings and provides training to enhance advocates <br />knowledge and skills. <br />7.Coordinates cross-agency collaboration to improve system response to victims. <br />8.Compiles statistical reports, analyzes data and makes recommendations. <br />9.Provides staff support and representation on advisory boards and interagency committees. <br />10.Prepares for, and performs, occasional public speaking engagements to community agencies and <br />organizations regarding the Victim Assistance Program. <br />11.Participates in professional organizations and committees. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Two (2) years college course work in criminal justice, law enforcement, social science, social work <br />or related field; AND <br />2.Two (2) years advocacy experience in the program specialty area. (Some positions within this <br />classification may also require two (2) years of experience supervising/leading the work of <br />volunteers which may be concurrent with the two (2) year advocacy experience.); AND, <br />3.Experience coordinating cross-agency collaboration with multiple community partners; OR <br />4.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Preference may be given to individuals who have experience or training in the DHS-child welfare <br />> <br />system, the juvenile dependency process. <br />Must possess, at time of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must possess, at time of hire, and <br />> <br />maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />> <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />Must be able to pass a drug-screening test. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY <br />Working knowledge of the criminal justice system, court proceedings, and the legal system in the District <br />Attorney's office; supervising or leading volunteers; managing a volunteer program; motivating and <br />coaching techniques. <br />Ability and skill to prepare reports and correspondence; track statistical data for grant requirements; <br />communicate effectively in both oral and written form; respond effectively in crisis situations with a <br />prejudice and judgment-free attitude; make appropriate referrals to community resources for direct <br />service; work with individuals and agencies with a variety of backgrounds and purposes; ability to <br />articulate and express thoughts in the language understood by those being addressed (includes people at <br />all educational levels and in all walks of life and cultural groups); recruit, organize, train and supervise a <br />volunteer staff working in the areas of crisis intervention and counseling; conduct public speaking and <br />training engagements; coordinate and collaborate with system partners to create an appropriate response <br />for victims; establish and maintain professional, effective, and collaborative working relationships with the <br />public, co-workers, volunteers, courts, and other agencies; operate a computer; operate an automobile. <br />ADOPTED: <br />08/88 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
