Following your review, we
look forwazd to further discussions with the school district regarding joint use of
the facility.
The facility will be on the ground floor of Courthouse Square and is designed to be
accessible at all hours. The location will allow access independent of other
government operations in the building. The design is still somewhat tentative, but
the proposed seating capacity is for 130-150 people, depending on the setup and
needs of the user (see attached plan). The facility will have a private lobby,
restrooms and conference/ante room for executive sessions and staff meetings.
The facility will have convenient access to the new transit mall and, in addition, we
anticipate that ground floor retail space will provide food service immediately
across the lobby.
Our plan is to equip the Hearing Room as a broadcast facility for public,
educational and government access on cable television. We are working with
Capital Community Television (CCT~ and the Mid-Willamette Valley Cable
Regulatory Commission, (a City of Salem, Marion County and City of Keizer
partnership) to identify and coordinate needs and resources.
I`ve had discussions with county and transit officials regarding what form the
partnership would take if the school district shared in the use of this facility.
100 High Street NE, Room 5321 .
