RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COURTHOUSE SQUARE
The Marion County Facilities Management custodial crew does here by submit the following
recommendations for consideration by Bob Mccune and Randy Curtis:
Rest rooms•
* wall hung toilets
* wall hung urinals (no floor urinals)
* ceiling hung stalls -
The reason for not attaching the above three items to the floor, is that it makes it easier to sweep
& mop.
* try to limit the amount of chrome that has to be polished, use enameled paper towel disp.
* install sink size mirrors( small) not wall to wall mirrors.
* make sure there is a floor drain in each restroom.
* if there are only the 3 stall restroom per floor then it needs to have double toilet paper and
paper towel dispensers installed.
* make sure exhaust fan it adequate to handle the high volume of use.
* avoid installing self flushing toilets or urinals. They are hard to clean (flush when you don't
want them to and don't flush when you do want them to).
Floor coverings:
~ * for restroom floors they wanted either small tile (3/4' to 1" squares, like in the C-H basement
public mens restroom) or vinyl. We want to stay away from larger size tiles with rough grout
joints. Because it is hard to sweep and wet mop. Dirt gets caught in the grout joints and they
(rough grout joints) tear up the mops
* hallways, lobby areas, lunch rooms, conference rooms, --- should all be vinyl (so we can wet
mop spills).
* entrance lobby and hallways should be vinyl
* make sure the carpeting is not basf, and that it has a 25 Ib. Tuft pull specification
* use dark color carpet. Like the gray in bobs office.
Elevators•
* elevators should have vinyl on floors
* install formica on walls, easier to get graffiti off of. Avoid chrome as much as possible.
Lobbies, waiting areas:
* do not attach chairs to the floor
