~ from once they are on-site. Also is there office space available either on the block or in the area
to rent. The project manager will require space as well. Curt asked if they could put trailers on
Courthouse property. This would not be feasible. Discussions were held about putting them in
the perimeter of the site. They aze looking at possibly 7-8 trailers plus they will need room for
theu equipment (hoisting cranes, etc.) as well. It was suggested that Gene Derfl~er has property
(the old Grand Theater above the current Transit space) that may be available for ~ent.
The option of possibly closing one lane of traffic on Chemeketa. and/or High was discussed.
Since all buses use Chemeketa & Court let's look at using one lane and parking spaces on High
Street. We currently have request for a permit for closing off parking azeas on High Street in
with the city right now. It is recommended that we e~rtend this permit for as lqng as we can.
Dave will check with the city on e~rtending the demolition permit to have access ~o one lane and
the pazking areas on High Street. The buses need at least 80 feet from sign on the crosswalk on
High to have access into their bus lanes.
Would like to see some signage go up once we start construction. It creates interest in the
project. Curt will get approval from the group before they are done.
Demolition update
The fencing went up today on schedule. Staton is not performing under the provisions of the
contract. They have not given us scheduling and plans as required by contract. County is in the
process of sending letters off to them. We will hire Centurywest as temporary ptoject manager
to monitor demolition, environmental issues, safety plans, etc. There will be hazardous
materials discovered as building is opened. These issues will need monitoring. Another
$73,000 should carry us through for project management portion to be added to Centurywest's
contract. It was not known if the demolition permit has been received from the ~ity. Staton is
ready to do the work, but they are not providing us with the documentation as required by their
contract. Curt will make a follow-up phone call to Staton to see what is going on.
Issue on skylights
Dan was asked what he recalled happened on the skylight issue. Dan stated that the skylights are
not in the current budget. This process was started and never finished. The atrp~im design on
the 4`~ floor was designed as an option, but don't think it is penciled into the $52 sft shell cost.
They were in the plans, then removed, but remained on the drawings, but not in~ the budgets.
We asked for these things as options: roof gardens, patio, skylights. RG not~d that all the
interior design was being done on the basis that the skylights are there. Dave will take a look at
what the cost factor is and re-analyze how it looks today. Discussions were held regarding
$80,000 cost for strip skylights not going through the floor. Due to potential cade issues, we
will look at skylights only going to 3rd floor. Need to keep in mind sound and siecurity issues
with skylights as well.
Budget
Transit is still too close to budget and would like a little more leeway. There are additional
~ consulting fees that were not in Transit's numbers originally and the e~ra parking spaces were
Page 5 of 6
