when we need to.
~ Will the verbal results of the tests be passed around? Stan has not done much with it. The
architect and general contractor both expressed need of this information. Pence/Kelly was asked
if they needed anything further. There was mention of a small void pocket hit at 35 feet. This
affects soil integrity and compaction level. Mike was drilling another well to locate pocket to
define it. This needs to be qualified if it affects structural. The need for an underslab drainage
system and rainwater runoff will be discussed by Leonard and Byron as an agenda item for their
next mechanical meeting. It was recommended that the verbal data be released to all parties for
closure. The foundation system will be going into the water ta,ble and depending on the time of
year, the footings may experience water. This type of information will be of value to
Pence/Kelly. Mike needs to communicate this information to the architect and general
contractor.
If we are not looking at a de-watering system, a question for county and transit to answer
would be if you will need the ability to wash out the basement level of the parking
structure? If not, then we can eliminate this from the budget. The parking structure will
occasionally be washed out and this will be a future need. There is some concern with the depth
of the storm drains and ha.ndling water. The courthouse parking structure uses backflow values
and we do get excess water during heavy rains because of current storm drainage system. These
items will be further explored when Len and Byron meet next week on mechanical.
Who is designing the underslab? Interface and Mike will work on this design.
Another consideration for washing the parking structure would be to look at renting or purchasing
a system designed to wash and then pull out the water. R.G. expressed interest in this option
because the bus mall will need to be cleaned out as well. If the cost of this equipment is
comparable or less than putting a drainage system in the building, then Transit would prefer to
purchase equipment rather tha,n putting additional dollars into the project. Ron will research the
equipment option and bring the information back to the group.
Centurywest was asked if we need underslab drainage? The bottom of the garage will be at
10' below ground and the water table at 11'. Mike said no this morning. With the parking
extending under the sidewalk, we may need more overall height underslab at the edge of the
sidewalk for plants, etc. If there is no underslab drainage, would it need to be waterproofed?
Yes, up the walls. Mike suggested using wall relief plugs and waterproof up to that line. You
need to consider the ground water level can rise above 11' every once in a while due to 5, 50 or
100 year floods. Dave will adjust the schedule for the elimination of P2. This should save time.
Discussion took place if he should wait until the decision was made on which P1 option would be
used. Dave was instructed to go with the assumption that we are going under the sidewalk.
What is the nezt step with city hall? Let's go higher up. R.G., Randy, and Leonard will set up
a meeting with Larry Wacker and Frank Malden to work out the details on the revocable permit
situation.
~ Budget
Status report on updated streetscape budget. Due to Pl changes, Pence/Kelly will put on hold
Page 4 of 10
