For Board Meeting of December 18,1997
Agenda Item # H.1.c
MEMO TO: BO F DI -9RS _
FROM: R. G. A DERSEN-WYCKOFF, GENERAL MANAGER
SUBJECT: ADJUSTMENT OF NON-REPRESENTED EMPLOYEE
SALARY SCHEDULES AND PERFORMANCE BASED
MERIT AWARD
Issue
None. Information only.
Backgrou nd
Personnel Policy 5.0, Salary Plans, authorizes the General Manager to maintain
and amend the salary plans for all non-represented positions in the District,
excluding the General Manager position.
The contract befinreen the District and the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 757,
provides for a 1.5% adjustment to the represented employee salary schedules
January 1, 1998. I have also amended the salary schedules for both the exempt
and non-exempt, non-represented positions at the District to reflect a 1.5%
increase to be effective January 1, 1998. By amending these salary plans each
individual non-represented employee will receive an increase in their wage rate
consistent with the new schedules January 1, 1998.
Personnel Policy 5.0, Salary Plans, also authorizes the General Manager to grant
performance based merit pay awards to recognize exceptional service to the
District by long-term, non-represented employees who have been at the maximum
of their salary range and unable to receive any merit increases for at least three
years. These awards do not increase an employee's position classification salary
range nor do they increase an employee's salary on a continuing basis. On
December 11, 1997, a performance based merit award equivalent to 4.0% of her
salary was granted to Peggy Trussell, Personnel Assistant II.
Actions Reauested
None.
POLICY~BOD MEMO 12-18-97
155
