Their continued occupancy of the 3~d floor limits any possible expansion for either
~ MCHA or the District Attorney. Because the District Attorney has also indicated a need
for additional office space within the next 2 to 3 years, the relocation of MCHA to the Stn
floor provides adequate expansion space for both departments and minimizes client
conflicts. The relocation will provide 3,842 sf on the 3rd floor for future expansion of the
District Attorney's staff.
4. Provide additional expansion space for the District Attorney's staff on the 3rd floor.
Explanation: The District Attorney has been allocated approximately 22,600 sf of space
on the 3~d floor. The District Attorney has indicated there is the possibility of more floor
space being needed within the next 2-3 years. If MCHA remains on the 3~d floor, neither
department will have any expansion space. Any future expansion by the District
Attorney could only be accommodated by relocation of the MCHA to vacant space
elsewhere in the building. Replacing the MCHA with N2N on the second floor, will
leave 3,842 sf of future expansion space for the District Attorney.
The District Attorney has also requested that the area designated for the automated filing
system and evidence room be moved approximately 6 feet eastward and a new corridor
be located between the conference room and file room.
If the space vacated by MCHA is finished for the District Attorney, the tenant
improvement cost are estimated at $23 per sf.
5. District Attorney has requested $ 70.000 in funds to add two automated filing
systems to their office.
Explanation: The District Attorney relies heavily on record storage for client and
criminal files. Arbuckle Costic has already designed their floor space to accommodate
the tracks and extra loading requirements. Federal funds are available, in the amount of
$10,000 to reimburse the county for a portion of the expense. The system will increase
the department's efficiency and decrease the need for additional space that would be
occupied by conventional wall files.
6. Children and Families office plan:
Explanation: The Board has requested that an additional conference room be added to
the Children and Families office in the area now designated as storage/expansion.
7. Relocate the Solid Waste Dept. to the east end of the 5"' floor.
Explanation: The Solid Waste Department has requested relocation from the central
lobby area of the 5`h floor to the Southeast corner of the floor. This request is to provide
