Heat: Furnish temporary heat necessary to prevent injury to work and materials through dampness <br />and cold. Use of open salamanders or any temporary heating devices which may be a fire hazard <br />will not be permitted. Maintain minimum temperatures as specified for various materials. <br />E. Electricity: Fumish all temporary electric services. <br />1. The Contractor shall meter and pay for electricity required for electric cranes and hoisting <br />devices, electrical welding devices and any electrical heating devices providing temporary heat. <br />F. Water: Provide services as required. <br />Obtain water by connecting to the water distribution system. Provided reduced pressure <br />bacld'low preventer at each connection. <br />2. Maintain connections, pipe, fitting and fixtures and conserve water-use so none is wasted. <br />Failure to stop leakage or other wastes will be cause for revocation (at Owner or Owner's <br />Representative discretion) of use of water from system. <br />1.3 FIRE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS <br />A. Temporary construction partitions of noncombustible materials shall be installed as required <br />to provide separation between work areas and adjoining occupied and used areas and facilities. <br />B. Exits for occupied areas of a building including rooms, suites, corridors and floors shall not be <br />blocked by the construction by construction materials. When acceptable to the Owner or Owner's <br />representative, exits may be blocked temporarily if it is un~voidable and adequate alternate <br />measures are provided such as signage, instructions to occupants and necessary temporary <br />facilities. Provide advance notice of request, described the need for the obstruction, schedule and <br />duration and altemate measures to be provided. <br />C. At the end of each workday, combustible packaging and crating materials for building products and <br />equipment to be installed shall be removed from work areas and collected and disposed of in an <br />acceptable manner. <br />D. The necessary number and appropriate type of portable fire extinguishers per National Fire <br />Protection Association (NFPA) Standard Nos. 10 - 1994 and 241- 1993 shall be provided for all <br />construction areas. <br />E. Smoking shall be prohibited in or adjacent to all demolition areas. The Contractor shall have a <br />smoking policy which permits smoking only in designated areas. These areas shall be approved <br />by the Contractor and shall be maintained with safe receptacles for smoking materials. <br />F. Weekly fire hazard inspections shall be conducted by the contractor once demolition starts and until <br />the building is demolished. A report sha11 be provided to the Owner or Owner's Representative <br />listing all hazards and conective actions taken. <br />
