SALEM COURTHOUSE SQUARE SECTION 01010 <br />DEMOLITION SCOPE OF WORK <br />iqy~ PAGE 1 OF 8 <br />1.1 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: <br />This project involves the Demolition of all structures bounded by Court Street, Church Street, Chemeketa <br />Street and High Street in Salem, Oregon. This Proposal shall be a single fixed price. The Demolition <br />includes but is not necessarily limited to the followmg: Demolition of Buildings, Concrete Slabs Asphalt <br />and Paving, foundations to subgrade and Salvage of required components. The Proposal shall include <br />lateral resisting structural components for a11 retaitung walls that aze to remain. <br />1.2 WORK SEQUENCE <br />The Contractor shall fumish to the Owner or Owner's Representative a schedule of approximate <br />dates on which the Contractor intends to accomplish the work in each specific area of the site, <br />buildings, or portions thereof. In addition, the Contractor shall notify the Owner or Owner's <br />Representative 24 hours prior to starting work in each speeific area. All activities shall be <br />coordinated with the Owner or Owner's Representative. <br />1.3 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />When a building or portion thereof is turned over to Contractor, Contractor shall accept entire <br />responsibility therefor. <br />1.4 DEMOLITION <br />A. Perform demolition work in a systematic manner as necessary to safely completely demolish and <br />remove buildings including appurtenances related and connected thereto exclusive of items required <br />to be salvaged for the Owner. <br />B. Except as otherwise acceptable, in removing buildings and structures of more than two stories, <br />demolish work story by story starting at highest level and progressing down subgrade basement <br />level. Demolition of first and second stories may proceed simultaneously. <br />C. Debris, including masonry, concrete, metals and similar materials shall become property of <br />Contractor and shall be disposed of off the Site by the Contractor. To the extent practical, provide <br />for separate sorting of demolition debris for recycling and resource recovery. <br />1. Submit a recycling and r~source recovery plan outlining materials to be recovered. <br />D. Shoring, Sheeting and Bracing: Maintain angles of repose for banks and excavations over five feet <br />deep to protect workers. <br />1. Extend sharing and bracing to the bottom of the excavation or to the remaining concrete <br />basement floors. Shore excavations below the elevation of adjacent foundations. <br />2. If the bearing of any foundation is disturbed by excavating, improper shoring or removal of <br />shoring, placing of bac~ll, and similar operations, provide a concrete fill support under the <br />disturbed foundations, as directed by the Owner or Owner's Representative, at no additional <br />cost to the County. Do not remove shoring until permanent work in the excavation has been <br />inspected and approved by the Owner or Owner's Representative. <br />E. Blasting: Shall not be permitted. <br />
