Page 2 <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Accessible parking spaces shall be at least nine feet wide and shall have an adjacent access aisle <br />that is at least six feet wide. In addition, one in every eight accessible spaces, but not less than <br />one, shall be van accessible. A van accessible parking space shall be at least nine feet wide and <br />shall have an adjacent access aisle that is at least eight feet wide. The access aisle shall be <br />located on the passenger side of the parking space except that two adjacent parking spaces may <br />share a common access aisle. No ramp or obstacle may extend into the parking space or the aisle, <br />curb cuts and ramps may not be situated in such a way that they could be blocked by a legally <br />parked vehicle. The accessible parking spaces and access aisles shall be located on a surface <br />with a slope not to exceed 1 unit vertical in 50 units horizontal. Parking spaces and access aisles <br />shall be firm, stable, smooth and slip resistant. (1104 & ORS 447.233 (2 & 3)) <br /> <br />A sign shall be posted for each accessible parking space. The sign shall be clearly visible to a <br />person parking in the space, shall be marked with the International Symbol of Access and shall <br />indicate that the spaces are reserved for persons with disabled person parking permits. Van <br />accessible parking spaces shall have an additional sign marked "Van Accessible" mounted below <br />the sign. Accessible parking spaces and signs shall be designed in compliance with the standard <br />set forth by the Oregon Transportation Commission in consultation with the Oregon Disabilities <br />Commission. (1104 & ORS 447.233 (e & f)) <br /> <br />No ramp may extend into an accessible parking space or the adjacent access aisle, and curb cuts <br />and ramps may not be situated so they could be blocked by a legally parked vehicle. (ORS <br />447.233 (3) <br /> <br />WEATHER EXPOSURE. In geographical areas wh~re experience has demonstrated a spacific <br />need [Required in Marion County), approved wood of naturai resistance to decay or treated wood <br />shall be used for those portions of wood members which form the structural supports of <br />buildings, balconies, porches or simular permanent appurtenances, when such members are <br />exposed to the weahter without adaquate protectio from a roof, cave, overhang or other covering <br />to prevent moisture or water accumulating on the surface or at joints between members. <br />Depending on local experience, such members may include horizontal members such as joists <br />and decking; or vertical members such as posts, poles and columns; or both horizontal and <br />vertical members.
