5.BIDC00128 A'I-I'IC ACCESS. A readily accessible attic access shall be provided to any attic <br />area having a clear height of over 30 inches. A framed opening not less than 22 inches by 30 <br />inches is required. [Sec. 807.1] <br />?.BIDC0065 A GROUND COVER shall be installed on the ground in the crawl space. <br />Ground cover shall be 6--mil black polyethylene or other approved material of equivalent perm- <br />rating. Ground cover shall be lapped 12 inches at all joints and cover the entire surface <br />extending full width and length of the crawl space and turn 12 inches up the foundation wall. [E <br />401.9.2] <br />8. BIDC00118 RIDGE BOARD/GUSSET. Rafters shall be framed to a ridge beard or to each <br />other with a gusset plate as a tie. The ridge board shall be at least 1 inch nominal thickness and <br />not less in depth than the cut end of the rafter. At all valleys and hips there shall be a valley or <br />hip rafter not less than 2 in. nominal thickness and not less in depth than the cut end of the <br />rafter. [Sec. 802.3] <br />9. BIDC00194 WATER HEATERS shall be anchored or strapped to the building to resist <br />horizontal displacement due to earthquake motion. [Sec. 510.5 Uniform Plumbing Code] <br />10.BIDC00167 HANDRAILS having a minimum and maximum height of 30 inches and 38 <br />inches, respectively, shall be provided on at least one side of stairways of more than three risers. <br />All required handrails shall be continuous the full length of the stairs. Ends shall be returned or <br />shall terminate in newel posts or safety terminals. Exception: Handrails may be interrupted by a <br />newel post at a turn, and the use of a volute turnout or starting easing shall be allowed over the <br />lowest tread. [Sec. 315.1] <br />11.BIDC00127 ATTIC VENTS. Provide screened attic vents with a net free area of 11150 of the <br />attic area. (or 1/300 if between 50 and 80% of required area is ventilators in the upper portion of <br />the attic and located at least 3 feet above eave or cornice vents. As an alternative, install a 4 mil <br />vapor barrier on thewam~ side ofthe ceiling. [Sec. 806.2]. <br />12.BIDC00165 ALL INTERIOR STAIRS shall be provided with a minimum of 60 watts of <br />incandescent light or other adificial light source rated at a minimum of 850 lumens. Interior <br />stairs of six steps or more shall have the required lighting located in the immediate vicinity of the <br />top and bottom of the stairs, and the required lighting shall be controlled from the top and bottom <br />of each stair without traversing any step of the stair. Exception: An artificial light source is not <br />required at the top and bottom of stairs provided the artificial light source is located directly over <br />each stair section. [Sec. 303.4] <br />13.BIDC0101 BP. This structure uses Brace Wall Panels (BP) to meet the code requirement <br />for lateral wall bracing. Insure that all BP's are located as indicated on the plans. <br />14.BIDC00148 ENCLOSED ACCESSIBLE SPACE under stairs shall have walls and soffits <br />protected on the enclosed side with 1/2 inch gypsum board. [Sec. 310.3] <br />15.BIDC00140 SAFETY GLAZING/TUBS. The following shall be considered specific hazardous <br />locations for the purposes of glazing. <br /> 1. Glazing in doors and enclosures for hot tubs, whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, <br />bathtubs, showers Glazing in any part of a building wall enclosing these compartments where the <br />bottom edge of the glazing is less than 60 inches above the drain outlet) <br /> <br /> <br />
