LOT DRAINAGE, Lots shall be provided with adequate drainage and shall be graded so as <br />to drain surface water away from foundation walls. The grade away from foundation walls shall <br />fall a minimum of 6 in. within the first 10 fi. Where lot lines, walls or other physical borders <br />prohibit 6" of fall within 10 feet, drains or other approved means shall be provided to ensure <br />positive drainage. [Sec. 401.3] <br /> <br />2. CONCRETE SPECIFICATIONS. Basement walls and foundations not exposed to the <br />weather, basement slabs and interior slabs on grade, except garage floor and steps exposed to ,, <br />the weather shall have a minimum compressive strength of 2500 psi. Basement walls, <br />foundation walls, exterior walls, and other vertical concrete work exposed to the weather, , ,~ ~ .~., <br />porches, carport slabs, and steps exposed to the weather, and garage floor slabs shall have'a <br />minimum specified compressive strength of 3000. Concrete shall be air entrained. Total air <br />content (percent by volume of concrete) shall not be less than 5 percent or more than 7 percent. <br />[Sec. 402.2, Table 402.2] <br /> <br />3. A GROUND COVER shall be installed on the ground in the crawl space. Ground cover shall <br />be 6-mil black polyethylene or other approved material of equivalent perm-rating. Ground cover <br />shall be lapped 12 inches at all joints and cover the entire surface extending full width and length <br />of the crawl space and turn 12 inches up the foundation wall. FOUNDATION CRIPPLE WALLS less than 14 inches in height shall be sheathed with wood <br />structural panels attached to both the top and bottom plates in accordance with Table 602.3a or <br />shall be constructed of solid blocking. [Sec. 602.8.1] <br /> <br />5. GROUND CLEARANCE. Wod'd~joists or the bottom of a wood structural floor closer than 18 <br /> inches or wood girders closer than 12 inches to exposed ground in crawl spaces <br /> or unexcavated areas located within the periphery of the building foundation <br /> shall bo pressure treated lumber.
