This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review covering the <br /> installation of a hydraulically designed automatic fire <br /> sprinkler system throughout the above indicated building. <br /> 5. As this installation is required by the 1996 Edition of the <br /> Oregon Structural Specialty Code ('94 UBC), the installation <br /> is to be in compliance the OSSC Chapter 9 and UBC Standard <br /> 9-1 as amended by the State of Oregon, <br /> 6, This review does not cover regulations for insurance credits <br /> 7. the sprinkler system submitted is based on a LIGHT HAZARD <br /> OCCUPANCY where the quantity and/or combustibility of <br /> contents is tow, and fires with relatively low rates of heat <br /> release are expected. <br /> The use of this building is classified as an office, <br /> 8. As this protection is dependent upon the water supply, a <br /> condition of this approval is the requirement that the <br /> available water supply shall not be less than the minimum <br /> acceptable listed in NFPA Standard 12. <br /> 9, This review is limited to the fi re and Life Safety require- <br /> ments and does not cover or imply acceptance for the <br /> additional dead and live loads placed upon the structural <br /> elements of the building, (NFPA 13 Sec 2-6,1.3) <br />10, SPRINKLER SYSTEM MONITORING & ALARMS, (OSSC Sec 904.2) <br /> All valves controlling the water supply for automatic <br /> sprinkler systems and water-flow switches on all sprinkler <br /> systems shall be electrically monitored where the number of <br /> sprinklers are one hundred or more. <br /> Valve monitoring and water-flow alarm and trouble signals <br /> shall be distinctly different and shall be automatically <br /> transmitted to an approved central station, remote station <br /> or proprietary monitoring station as defined by national <br /> standards, or. when approved by the buuilding official with <br /> concurrence of the chief of the fire department, sound an <br /> audible signal at a constantly attended location. <br />11. SPRINKLER SYSTEM MONITORING & ALARMS. cont'd. <br /> An approved audible sprinkler flow alarm shall be provided <br /> on the exterior of the building in an approved location. An <br /> aproved audible sprinkler flow alarm to alert the occupants <br /> shall be provided in the interior of the building in a <br /> normally occupied location. Actuation of the alarm shall be <br /> as set forth in U,B.C, Standard 9-1. <br />12. EXTERIOR ROOFS OR CANOPIES. (NFPA SEC 4-12.7.2) <br /> Srinklers shall be installed under exterior combustible <br /> roofs or canopies exceeding 4 feet in width. <br /> The plans submitted do not show this 8 foot wide by 22 foot <br /> long exterior canopy, As per the structural plans, this <br /> canopy is constructed of combustible materials. <br /> PROVIDE SPRINKLER COVERAGE AS PER THIS SECTION, <br />13.
