APPROVAL OF SFR[NEL~.R SYSTem. (NFPA 13 Sec 8-1) <br /> The installing contractor shall: <br /> a) Notify the authority having jurisdiction and the owner's <br /> reoresentative of t~e time and date testing ~ill ~e <br /> performed. <br /> b) Perform all required acceptance tests. (See Section 8-2) <br /> c) COMplete and sign the appropriate Contractor's Haterial <br /> and Test Certificate(s) [see Figures 8-1(a) and 8-1(b)]. <br />15. S¥STEH OPERATIONAL TESTS. (NFPA 13 Sec 8-2.4) <br /> Waterflow detecting devices ~ncluding the associated alarm <br /> circuits shall be flow tested through the inspector's test <br /> connection and shall result i~ an audible alar~ on the <br /> premises withi~ 5 Mar, utes after such flow begins and until <br /> such flo~ stops. <br /> The ~ain drain valve shall be opened and remain open until <br /> the ~ysteM pressure stabilizes. The static a~d residual <br /> pres,sures shall be recorded o~ the co~tractor s test <br /> certificate. <br />t6. INSTRIJCIlONS. (NFPA 13 Sec 8-4) <br /> The install~n~ contractor shmll provide the owner with: <br /> a) Ail literature and instructions provided by the Manu- <br /> facturer describin~ proper opera~ion and Maintenance of <br /> a~y equipment and devices installed, <br /> b) Publication titled NFPA 25~ Standard for the Inspection, <br /> Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based ~ire Protectio~ <br /> Systems. <br />;,7. HYDRAULIC QESTGN ~NFORNA'I*ION SIGN. (NFPA 1~ Sec 8--5) <br /> l*h~ installin~ co~tractor shall identify a hydraulically <br /> designed sprinkler system with a permanently Marked weatbe;'- <br /> prno~ ~etal or rigid plastic sign secured with co~rosion- <br /> resist~nt wire, c~ain, or other approved Means. Such signs <br /> shall be placed at the alarm valve supplyin~ the corre- <br /> spo~dinq ~ydrauIically designed area. <br /> HYDRAULIC DESIGN INFORMATION 8IGN~ cont'd. <br /> The sign shall include the following infon~ation: <br /> a) Location of the design area or ~reas. <br /> b) ~ischarqe densities over the design area or areas. <br /> ,c) Require~ flow amd residual p~*essure demand at the base <br /> of riser. <br /> d) Occupancy classification or commodity classificatio~ and <br /> Maximum ~erMitted storage beight and'configuration. <br /> e) Hose stream demand included in addition to the spri~kle~ <br /> demand. <br /> SYST~ MAINTENANCE.
