•
•
From: "Paul Nees" <Paul.Nees@state.or.us>
To: "Troy Wheeler" <twheeler@co.marion.or.us>
liseDate: 02/13/2009 2:34 :44 PM
Subject: Re: Stayton Cooperative Telephone 130 E. Marion
StPermit#08-09449
After talking with Stayton Fire Dept, it was felt that sprinklering that one
small room would create more problems than it would help in suppressing a
fire. Basically, a small sprinkler system in just this one portion of the
building would just provide a fluid for the diesel fuel to float on top of and
move throughout the building. The rest of the building is exempt from
sprinklers due to it being a communication facility. In the past for
generators inside the building at hospitals, we have looked at the exception
of an electrical room not being sprinklered when it is separated from a
sprinklered building with a two hour fire-rated separation assembly. If the
room has rate-of-rise heat detection and automatic fire dept notification
along with the CPO walls, this would be an acceptable alternative for the fire
service. We just need the architect to state that in writing.
Paul A. I still do not have information on
the tank.
But it sounds like they are going to try an alternate method for the
sprinklers in the H-3 room. I will send a letter to them with all the
items that I need addressed then.
Thanks,
Troy Wheeler, Plans Examiner
Marion County Building Inspection
Ph: 503-373-4424
