Plans have been reviewed for compliance with the provisions of the <br />Oregon State Structural Specialty Code ('91 UBC) 1993 Edition. <br /> <br />Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new buildings in <br />euch a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or <br />road fronting the property. (513) (UFO 10.301} (ORD 774) <br /> <br />Walls and floors separating dwelling units in the same building shall be <br />of not less than one-hour fire-resistive construction. (1202(b)) <br /> <br />Draft stops shall be installed in the attics, mansards, overhangs, false <br />fronts set out from walls and similar concealed spaces of apartments and <br />motels. Such draft stops shall be above and in line with walls separating <br />individual dwelling units and guest rooms from each other and from other <br />uS~S. (2$16(f)4B(ii)) <br /> <br />Sleeping rooms require at least one operable exterior window or door <br />approved for emergency escape or rescue and providing a net clea~ op~ning <br />of not less than 5.7 sq. ft. The minimum net clear opening height <br />dimension shall be 24 inches. The minimum net clear width dimension shall <br />be 20 inches. When windows are provided as a means of escap~ or rescue, <br />they shall have a finished sill height of not more than 44 inches above <br />the floor. (1204) <br /> <br />In dwelling units, a smoke detector shall be installed in each sleeping <br />room and at a point centrally located in the corridor or area giving <br />access to each separate sleeping area. <br /> <br />In new construction, required smoke detectors shall receive their primary <br />power from the building wiring when such wiring is served from a <br />commercial source and shall be equipped with a battery backup. The <br />detector shall emit a signal when the batteries are low.
