This review is <br />not intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting an <br />evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural members that may <br />appear to be unsafe. Existing construction not specifically detailed in <br />the submitted plans and structural calculations is beyond the scope of <br />this review. <br /> <br />A copy of approved plans shall be kept On the site of the building or <br />work at the time of inspection. (R-ii1.2) <br /> <br />Ail sills, posts and ledgers which rest on concrete or masonry exterior <br />walls shall be approved pressure-treated wood suitable for ground <br /> <br />Provide a one perm vapor barrier between the top of the garage slab and <br />the new heated floor space. <br /> <br />The maximum span for 2x6 floor joists is 11'-0". Provide support of the <br />new floor system at 11'-0". <br /> <br />~very sleeping room shall have at least one operable window approved for <br />emergency egress or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more <br />than 44 inches above the floor. The minimum net clear opening width <br />dimension shall be 20 inches. The minimum net opening height shall be <br />24 inches. The minimum net clear op~ning area shall be at least 5.7 <br />square feet. (R-210.2) <br /> <br />When alterations repairs or additions are made to an existing dwelling, <br />the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as <br />required for new dwellings. (R-215.1) <br /> <br />Smoke detectors shall be installed outside of each separate sleeping <br />area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional <br />story Of the dwelling including basements. In dwelling units with split <br />levels, a smoke detector need be installed only on the upper level, <br />provided the lower level is less than one full story below the upper <br />level, except that if there is a door between levels then a detector is <br />required on each level. All detectors shall be interconnected such that <br />th~ actuation of one alarm will actuate all the alarms in the individual <br />unit and shall provide an alarm which will be audible in all sleeping <br />areas.
