FINISHING RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Further Finishing
Not Required
Regular SkidGuard is a finished ~o-
duct with overlaid surfaces requiring
no further protection. The overlaid
surlace is superior to paint and stain
in,hat it minimizes checking and
grain raise in the wood underneath.
However, lhe surface can be painted
lor aesthetic ellect.
2. Painting
The overlaid surface of Regular
SkidGuard is an excellent base for
paint, To ensure that no trace of the
release agenl used in manulacturing
lhe producl remains on the surface,
clean with toluene, Socal ~2 or a
similar solvent and an abrasive pad
(nylon or aluminum), This will assure
maximum adhesion of the finish Io
the surtace, After the surlace has
dried, apply two coats of exterior
deck enamel Since ename~ tends to
reduce the slip-resistant properties
of the surface, the addition of sand
to the top-coal of ename~ is
recommended,
3. Edge Sealing
In exterior applications, the edges
and ends of the panel should be
sealed before installation with a good
quality pigmonted exterior polyure-
thane resin linish, Clear polyurethane
sealers are not recommended for
exterior use,

Fig, I Suggested Field Joint

· : ' ~ "' I,,'~

Load Span Tables
Allowable Uniform Load per square
foot (PSF) for dry conditions is
shown in Tables 2 and 3.
