November 27,

APPLICANT:
SITE NUMBER:

SAND FILTER SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION DETAIL SHEET

1992

HARRY THERRIEN
92-3624

Your site has been found suitable for a SAND FILTER ALTERNATIVE S~WAGE
DISPOSAL SYSTEM. The following construction specifications shall apply to the
installation of your septic system.

1. The septic tank shall have a minimum liquid capacity of lO00
gallons.

The projected daily sewage flow for this project is calculated at
450 qallo~, per day. Based on soil conditions observed on this
site, the disposal field will be sised at 45 lineal feet per 150
qallons of projected daily sewage flow. A minimum of 135 lineal
feet of disposal field will be required for your proposed develop-
ment. The disposal trenches are constructed two (2) feet wide and
on minimum ten (10) foot centers and with no line exceeding 125
feet in length. The trenches and perforated pipe are installed
level (fl") and contoured to follow the natural ground surface.

The disposal field shall be constructed with equa~.......distribution
with a minimum trench depth of 12 inches and a maximum trench
depth of 12 inches. There must be at least 16 inches of backfill
over the top of the gravel, measured from the natural ground
surface.

The sand filter system shall be designed and operated as per OAR
340-71-290 through 340-71-305. Detailed plans for the system must
be submitted prior to permit issuance. A building permit is
required if a site built concrete box is used as the sand filter
container. A pamphlet is available in our office which details the
requirements for a sand filter system.

A capping fill is required with this system. The system shall be
constructed as indicated on the attached Capping Fill construction detail
sheet.

An effluent lift pump may be necessaz'y to construct the disposal field
in the approved area and at the correct depth.

This approval is site specific to the area tested and the septic system
must be located in the immediate area of the test pits unless otherwise autho-
rized by this office. A new site evaluation may be required if the system is
proposed for a different area on the property.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
The drainfields must be constructed within the i~ediate area of the
westerly test pit. The sand filter may need to be elevated to achieve
gravity flow to the shallow drainfield lines. Observe all normal set-
back/separation distances. Refer to the setback list which outlines
minimum separation distances between septic systems and other features.
Note: Construction is limited to the dry ~oil su~er season. This period
is normally between June 1 and October ].

THIS ,.IS NOT A PERMIT TO INSTALL THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. DO NOT INSTALL THE SYST~
UNTIL A VALID PERMIT HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THIS OFFICE.
