All detectors shall be <br />connected to a sounding device or other detectors to <br />provide, when actuated, an alarm which will be audible in <br />all sleeping areasl (R-215.1) <br /> <br />In new construction, required smoke detectors shall receive <br />their primary power from the building wiring. Smoke detec- <br />tors may be battery operated when installed in existing <br />buildings. (R-215.2) <br /> <br />A readily accessible attic access shall be provided to any <br />attic area having a clear height of over 30 inches. A <br />framed opening not less than 22 in. by 30 in. is required. <br />(R-708) <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />Wood trusses shall be designed in accordance with approved <br />engineering practice. Trusses shall be braced according to <br />their appropriate engineered design. Truss members shall not <br />be cut or altered unless so designed. (R-702.9) <br /> <br />Roof trusses are required to be designed by an Oregon <br />registered Engineer or Architect. For trusses manufactured <br />by an approved fabrication plant, have the design and layout <br />drawings available at the construction site for the framing <br />inspection. All job site cutting or modification of the <br />roof trusses shall be clearly shown in the engineer's design <br />calculations and drawings. If trusses are to be built at <br />the job site, submit the engineer's design and construction <br />plans to the Marion County Building Department prior to <br />start of construction and have the approved drawings <br />available at the site for the framing inspection. <br /> <br />All plywood, when designed to be exposed in outdoor applica- <br />tions shall be of an exterior type, except that plywood roof <br />sheathing exposed to the underside may be of interior type <br />with exterior glue. (R-703.1) <br /> <br />INSULATION REQUIREMENTS: Provide insulation as follows: <br />ceiling R-38 (vaulted ceiling R-19) walls R-19 and under <br />floor R-19. <br /> <br />Buildings with high-efficiency heating equipment (Heat Pumps <br />w/ COP of 2.7 or Gas or Oil w/ 80% AFUE rating) may be <br />insulated as follows: ceiling R-30 (roof/ceiling assemblies <br />in which hasa slope of 3 in 12 or greater, may be R-19), <br />walls R-11, underfloors R-19. <br /> <br /> <br />
