Marion County

OREGON
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT

DIRECTOR
Craig O, Luedeman

BUILDING INSPECTION
(503) 588-5147

PLANNING &
ENFORCEMENT
(503) 588-5038

8OARO Oi~
COMMISSIONERS
Randall FranCe
Gary Heer
Mary Pearmine

ADMINISTRATIVE
OFFICER
Ken Roudybu~h

8/6/9l

VICTORIA Z~LLER
7555 POET ROAD SE
AUMSVILLE ORR. 97325

SUBJ: SEPTIC SYSTEM REPAIR EVALUATION
SITE NUMBER; 1043
LEGAL: T.$$., R.2W, SECT. 25
7555 POET ROADt AUMSVILLEt ORE. 97325

I revisited this property 8/5/91 and examined the two test pits that
your contractor prepared for the septic system repair evaluation.
The lot size and existing development severely limit the repair
possibilities and the soil conditions I observed prevent considering
any repair other than an alternative sand filter system. Even the
sand filter repair may be substandard to current rules pertaining to
subsurface sewage disposal.
I suggest that you work with your installer to lay out the proposed
repair for review by our department.

Refer to the enclosed sand filter construction detail sheet which
outlines the minimum construction standards, see also the setback
list for minimum separation distances between septic systems and
other features, some additional investigation may be necessary to
establish the location of existing septic system components. Keep in
mind that the existing septic tank must be pumped and inspected to
ensure it is watertight or whether it must be replaced with a
watertight dosing septic tank.

The septic system repair should be completed as soon as possible
during the dry summer season because marginal soil conditions could
jeopardize the repair once the soils wet up from the fall rains.
Submit detailed repair plans to our office for review. We would like
to issue the repair permit as quickly as possible to alleviate the
health hazard created by the failing septic system.

Call, if you have any questions. I am usually in the office between 8
and 10 AM.

LEE A.
