Soil conditions prevent
considering any repair other than an alternative sand filter system.
The lot sise and existing development limit repair possibilities so
even the sand filter repair may be substandard to current rules
pertaining to subsurface sewage disposal. I suggest that you work
with your installer to lay out the proposed repair fo= review by our
department.

Refer to the enclosed sand filter construction detail sheet which
outlines the minimum construction standards. Review the setback list
for required separation distances between septic systems and other
features. Some additional investigation may be necessary to establish
the location of existing septic system components. New drainfield
lines should not conflict with existing lines. The existing septic
tank must be pumped and inspected to determine if it is watertight or
whether it must be replaced with a new watertight dosing septic tank.

The septic system repair should be completed as soon as possible
during the dry summer season because marginal soil conditions could
jeopardize the repair once the soils wet up from the fall rains.
Submit detailed repair plans to Our office for review. We would like
to issue the repair permit as quickly as possible to alleviate the
health hazard created by the failing septic system.

Call, if you have any questions. I am usually in the office between 8
and 10 ~2~.

LEE A.
