(c)Farm stands shall not include structures designed for occupancy as a residence or for
activities other than the sale of farm crops and livestock and does not include
structures for banquets, public gatherings or public entertainment.
8.The applicant and her family have been operating a commercial nursery from the subject
parcel for a number of years . She states that in 1984 the nursery began retailing from the
property in addition to their continued wholesale operation. In addition to the retail sales of
nursery products sold from the property it is the operators desire to provide coffee to the
retail clients as part of their shopping experience. The ordinance allows incidental retail sales
provided they do not exceed 25% of the total sales from the property. The applicant is aware
to these limitations and has agreed to limit sales to the limits of the ordinance. The stand is
designed exclusively for the sale of merchandise, no accommodations are being made for
public gatherings or residential facilities.
9.Based on information provided by the applicant, the proposed farm stand is a permitted use
in the EFU zone and is consistent with the Marion County Rural Zoning Ordinance.
Craig O.
