To: Sara Masser
From: Robert Goodwin, REHS
RE: Major repair permit no. 555-20-008588
April 23, 2021
Page 2
ATT and Sand Filter systems are devices connected to a septic system that provide pre-
treatment of effluent. They use mechanical circulation to reduce the level of bacteria and
provide a high level of treatment prior to dispersal into a drainfield.
The owner of an ATT system must maintain a service contract with a licensed and certified
professional to service and maintain the onsite system. A service contract must be entered into
before the system is installed and must be maintained until the system is decommissioned.
An effluent lift pump will be required to install the septic system disposal field in the approved
area and at the required depth. Detailed instructions for dosing tank/effluent pump installations
are available in our office. The electrical wiring to the pump and alarm must be installed in
accordance with the appropriate ro riate Electrical Code. The electrical work must be done under a
Marion County Electrical Permit and must be inspected and approved by a Marion County
Electrical Inspector. The work must be left uncovered and accessible for inspection. The
electrical inspection includes the connections to the pump and alarm in the dosing tank, the
wiring in the trench and the connections in the structure.
Gravelless absorption trenches are required as part of this installation. A barrier to prevent
burrowing animals from entering the absorption chambers is required. Hydrosplitter lines must
be bedded to drain freely, with no sag.
Where to go from here:
A plot plan showing the field staked location and specific components of the proposed repair
system must be submitted.
This is not a permit, a permit will be issued when all required information
has been submitted and approved
If you have any questions, please contact this office.
Thank u,
Robert Goodwin, REHS
Marion County Onsite Wastewater Specialist
5155 Silverton Road NE•Salem,OR 97305-3802• www.co.marion.or.us
Printed on recycled paper• Reduce—Reuse—Recycle-Recover
