Marion County
--1 ;_:• OREGON
PUBLIC WORKS
April 23, 2021
(503)588-5036
Sara Masser
9308 Silver Falls Hwy
BOARD OF Aumsville, OR 97325
COMMISSIONERS
Kevin Cameron, Chair RE: Proposed major repair permit no. 555-20-008588
Danielle Bethel) 9308 Silver Falls Hwy SE, Aumsville Oregon
color Willis
DIRECTOR Dear Ms. Masser
Brian Nicholas, P.E.
We have completed our site evaluation for the proposed major repair at the
ADMINISTRATION above referenced property, please see the findings below:
BUILDING Approved Area & System Type
INSPECTION
A soils test pit and other site features were evaluated on the property during the
EMERGENCY site visit on April 12, 2021 Conditions observed during this site evaluation
' MANAGEMENT indicate that the area around the evaluated test holes are not capable of
supporting a Standard septic system, due to the following limitations:
ENGINEERING
Limited space — There is not sufficient area for a full standard system in
ENVIRONMENTAL accordance with OAR 340-071-0220.
SERVICES
Permanent groundwater level is too close to the ground surface:
OPERATIONS DEQ Rule requirement: Permanent groundwater level cannot come within
48" from the bottom of an absorption facility for a Standard or capping fill
PARKS system or within 24" from the bottom of an absorption facility for an
Alternative Treatment Technology system. "Permanent groundwater" refers
PLANNING to a water table that exists year-round. OAR 340-071-0100(101)
Description: Treatment of sewage occurs in the soils around the drainfield
SURVEY area. If groundwater comes in contact with the sewage before it has been
adequately treated in the soils, there are two concerns: 1) very little
treatment occurs in saturated soils —the presence of air is required for good
treatment; and 2) sewage may be "forced" to the surface where it poses a
potential public health hazard. Evidence of a permanent water table was
found at 12 inches in the test pit.
Under the conditions observed at the above address, an Alternative Treatment
Technology (ATT) Treatment Standard 2 system with a Gravelless
Absorption Drainfield is required by DEQ rules.
Specific Requirements
Specific sizing and site placement details can be found on the attached Soil
Notes/Field Worksheet. A field stakeout of all system components is required
as a condition of this site approval to verify adequate area exists.
5155 Silverton Road NE•Salem,OR 97305-3802• www.co.marion.or.us/PW
Printed on recycled paper• Reduce—Reuse—Recycle-Recover
