However, we believe that these cracks are
probably the result of logging and stump removal operations subsequent to the date-
of-loss, with roots or organics being moved or disrupted under the asphalt, and the
asphalt later resettling.
The "Upper Cracks" Zone is in the West 'half' of the driveway and is West of
the Garage. It is effectively a series of cracks creating an "L" shape, with a crack
perpendicular to the axis of the driveway (i.e. across the driveway), and then with a
series of short cracks running down the middle of the driveway. They are relatively
minor cracks. The location of the perpendicular crack is approximately where the
driveway slopes downward at a steeper angle, and it stops short 17" from the West
driveway edge. But, then there is a narrow diagonal crack from this 17" location to
the West driveway edge. [See Figure 100 below, without emphasis highlights. The diagonal crack is very narrow, has sharp edges,
and appears to be newer than the others. [See Figure 101 below with yellow
highlights for emphasis. The diagonal crack at the West edge is highlighted green to
differentiate it.]
Report Date: March 28, 2021 Page 38 of 44
Site Visit Date: March 6, 2021 Taylor& Syfan Consulting Engineers, Inc.
